Switching from a stressful job to a fulfilling job
_________ J.J. Thiret ___________ this may be a dumb question - but how do you feel now, um, about yourself, um, versus when you were able to buy the Armani suit, not looking at the prices on the menu, taking Caribbean cruises? Buying whatever it was you wanted? _________ Tim Brownson ___________ Well, uh, I mean, a lot of that stuff, I must say my first published book was, Don't Ask Any Stupid Questions. There are No Stupid Questions. So, if you don't know the answer to something, it's not a stupid question. But, um, it, it's just totally different. You know, it's almost like I'm, I'm seeing two different people. You know, uh, at the moment, I love what I do, so I, you'll never hear me say, "Thank God it's Friday," eh, unless I've got something especially exciting going on. I just don't work like that. I look forward to working with my clients, to seeing three clients a day. I've got tremendous balance. Yeah, we've got nothing like that money. I don't make anything like the money like I used to in, in, um, in sales. And, it's very difficult to do that doing one-on-one coaching, unless you're, you know, unless you're one of the quote unquote, "super coaches," that can charge over grand to work with somebody, and I've no wish to do that. Um, so, you know, I, I, the thing is JJ, I've no regrets, because I had to go through that to get where I am now, and that was part of the, of the, the journey. And, don't get me wrong, I wasn't always unhappy. I, uh, I had some great times in sales, met, met some, I got some fantastic friends from it. But I, it was a different stage of my life, and it, it is, as a I got into my forties, I hadn't got that ability just to, just to let the stress drip off me. It was, you know, it's like a, you, you, you know, it's like a, a, an athlete who's getting old and he can't shake the injuries off quite as quickly. You get to the point where, I think, there's going to be one where I can't shake it off at all. I'm going to end up killing myself with stress if I'm not careful. So, it's, you know, it's, it's two different people, two different phases of my life doing, doing different things. But I'm, but I'm much more fulfilled and happy now. I look forward to work, and I do what I want to do on my terms, you know, within reason, rather than feeling like I'm constantly at the beck and call of somebody else.
