Rewiring of neuropathways for stroke patients

_________ J.J. Thiret ___________ There are older people that suffer strokes, but the brain finds new neuropathways. _________ Tim Brownson___________ Correct. Correct. It does. Yeah, yeah, if you can get a stroke victim within the first eight hours, and start to, of course if they don't die from the stroke, which the first [???] that even the damaged parts of the brain - you're absolutely right - they, they can rewire. Not always, but I, I suspect we will get to the stage where we can do that. You know, this is still relatively new science. We're talking about, really, the last five or ten years. _________ J.J. Thiret ___________ Well, well my mother, she had two, she had two, uh, two strokes, and, and she, I saw rewiring happen, you know, where she, you know, couldn't move an arm and then, after that, could. You know? _________ Tim Brownson___________ Yeah. Yeah. _________ J.J. Thiret ___________ Or couldn't remember certain things and then started remembering. And the brain is, um, yeah, quite fascinating when it comes to that stuff. _________ Tim Brownson___________ Yeah. Stroke, stroke victims are often learning to walk all over again, as well. You know, so it's like being, being a baby again. They're literally - and you're absolutely right - they're trying to build new neuropathways. _________ J.J. Thiret ___________ Yeah, so if that's the case, then why can't they change, right? Um - _________ Tim Brownson___________ Yeah, they can. They, use like I said, it's one of the three reasons. They either don't want to, don't know the information, because this isn't information that's in, eh, eh, of course it's in the public domain. But, and you could stop ten people in the street and say, "Are you familiar with neuroplasticity, and how the brain is effectively plastic and can rewire itself?" Nine are going to look at you like you're insane, aren't they? So if you don't know, if you don't know what you don't know. If you don't know that's possible, that's why I try and highlight this wherever I can, you know, through my blog and newsletter or whatever. Change is always possible, and that gives people hope, and it also gives them belief, and belief's so important at the set off trying to change -
